Austin Rowing Club’s Junior Team is the oldest youth rowing program in Austin and one of the fastest teams in Texas. We offer two Junior Rowing programs: Competitive and Recreational. These programs are uniquely designed to fit the goals and schedules of young rowers.
If you are interested in discovering your potential as a rower, working hard, making friends from all over Austin, being part of a team, traveling and competing in local, regional, and national regattas, and most importantly having fun, then we invite you to join our Competitive Program. If your child is looking to get in shape and develop skills in a new and exciting sport, we welcome you to join our Recreational Program!
Novice Crew Fall 2018 Registration
Novice Programming Fee – $780
No experience necessary!
The Novice Team is open to all 8th-12th grade students.
The fall program runs August through mid-December. Rowers in their first year of competition start on the Novice squad and should refer to the Novice practice times and race schedule. After a year of racing, rowers move to the varsity squad. Rowers from our program have gone on to row in college on scholarship, coach high school and college rowing, and have won numerous Youth National Championship titles. Fall regattas include the Head of the Brazos and Head of the Colorado.
Rowers must register online to secure a place in the program. Rowers need to also fill out a registration packet and bring with you to the first class day.
Varsity Crew Fall 2018 Registration

We invite returning and rising Varsity members to continue on this path and set high goals for the 2018 fall season. Fall regattas include the Head of the Brazos and Head of the Colorado.

RECREATIONAL PROGRAM (MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL)
Fall Programming Fee $300.
Are you interested in rowing but not quite sure if you want to compete? Join our Recreational Rowing Program this fall! You’ll learn how to sweep, scull, kayak and have a lot of fun learning a new skills! You don’t need to know how to row – we’ll teach you everything you need to be successful on the water!
Athletes will be grouped by age and level of rowing experience.
Rowers must register online to secure a place in the program. New rowers need to also fill out a registration packet and bring with you to the first class day.
AISD PE credit for Fall 2018
To obtain PE credit for AISD:
1. Go to the AISD website for information about the process and to download the application.
2. Complete the application with all appropriate signatures and turn application in to Austin Rowing Club for approval and then submission to AISD.
3. Read carefully and sign the parent letter and submit letter to the Austin Rowing Club with other application materials. There is homework and exams required by AISD and the numeric grade is averaged into the student’s GPA.
4. Rowers will be required to attend an additional 30 minute discussion once a week to discuss the AISD PE curriculum and to turn-in and review assignments. AISD requires all students to learn the material and turn in all assignments on time. Failure to complete course work will result in an ‘F’ on the student’s report card.
