National Learn to Row——–Inclement Weather Plan B
**Due to inclement weather and rain predictions the following changes have been made for participants who are registered for this event. Coaches, ARC volunteers and staff will make this a fun and memorable event!!
Tour of the Waller Creek Boathouse and its Partners-Altas Café, RoFit, and Congress Ave Kayaks.
Education of the equipment including up close viewing of 8 person shell. Education on the smaller boats including quads, doubles and singles.
History of the sport, Austin’s Rowing Community, and brief overview of ARC Regattas held annually.
Intro to Erging with training and techniques including basics of a rowing stroke, stroke rates, splits and proper form. Wear comfortable workout clothes and tennis shoes as you will get some exercise on this equipment.
If weather permits….. Demonstration of rowing in the “dock Boxed barge”. ARC has a specialized barge which allows athletes to sit in the boat and use sweep oars in order to safely learn about the rowing stroke. The Barge is tied to the dock, unable to go anywhere, however the athletes will be able to take “strokes” through the water simulating actual rowing.
NTLR Participants who wish to sign up for 1-hour sessions offered between 9AM and 4PM on Saturday, 4 of June. Act quickly–these session fill up fast! Participants will need to sign up by June 2, 2016 for a guaranteed spot.
A courtesy waitlist will be managed by Kimberlyweinberg@hotmail.com for those participants who wish to attend but are unable to sign up for available spot. Confirmation notices will be provided 48 hours prior to event.
